Algarve Attractions - The Algarve offers an array of different attractions to create the perfect memories of your trip to the area. When you wish to engage in a bit of sightseeing, you can check out some of the Moorish-style houses or take in some of the scenery of the many traditional fishing villages.

 

There are plenty of places to catch a breathtaking view, explore cliffs, as well as discover the sweet scent of orange groves, vineyards and olive trees. Tourists to the Algarve can choose to participate in a boat trip, do a little sea fishing or pass through some of the old hill towns. When you want to make the kiddies happy, there are many theme and water parks to enjoy.

Vilamoura

When you visit this city, you will find a fascinating marina, which features more than 600 craft. There are also many golfing outlets, beaches and a variety of watersports that await your arrival.

Aquashow
On the main EN125 to Quarteira Road
Algarve, Portugal
Here you will find the largest wave pool in all of Europe. There is also a nice bird exhibit that you can enjoy, which also features a nice bird of prey show.

Aqualand
Located a few kilometers from Alcantarilha; 10km west of Albufeira.

This is where you will find the largest open air water park in all of Europe. There are many rides that will keep you busy throughout the day, as well as a variety of tubes and slides.

Silves

When you visit Silves, you will encounter an interesting medieval castle, which used to represent the Moorish capital within the Algarve. The castle marks where many Christians and Muslims battled during the l2th and 13th centuries. Other historical buildings include The Gothic Cathedral and The Chapel of Joao do Rego.

Alvor

When you enter the village of Alvor, you will find yourself close to the Bay of Lagos. Here you will find a great example of a 16th century parish church. You will be able to view a sample of the Manueline style of ornamental architecture.

Omega Parque Zoo

When you want to visit a nice zoo, you will find this selection tucked away within the lovely mountains of the Algarve. Many endangered animals call this zoo their home, such as limos, crowned sifakas, bamboo lemurs and the cheetah.

Portimao and Praia da Rocha

Portimao is considered to be the Algarve’s second largest town and port. You will find this town located on the right bank of the Arade river. There are many restaurants, tourist shops and markets that can be found in this area. If you travel west of the center, you will encounter a satisfying fish market to sample.

Monchique
Algarve, Portugal
Come to the town of Monchique when you want to encounter a wealth of beauty. When you pass through the village, you will be able to enjoy the Parish Church. This is also where you will find Foia Mountain, the highest point within the Algarve, which is 902 meters tall.

Zoomarine

This attraction can be located within the village of Guia, which is an entertaining theme park. Some of the shows that you can enjoy deal with seals, dolphins and parrots. Shows can be enjoyed for about half an hour each, available throughout the day.

When you visit the Municipal Museum, you will be able to view replicas of fret-cut chimneys of the Algarve, as well as a variety of three-dimensional cork carvings, 16th-century vestments, ceramics and 17th-century embroidery. Other features you can enjoy include a painting gallery, weapons, minerals, as well as a numismatic collection.
